Thomas McMurtrie

Solicitor

Thomas joined the firm in 2018 as a Litigation Assistant before going on to complete his traineeship at PBW Law. Tom qualified in June 2021 as a Solicitor.

Thomas was legally educated firstly at the University of Dundee where he graduated with an LLB (Hons) Law degree. He went on to study at the University of Strathclyde where he obtained the Diploma in Legal Practice.     

During his traineeship at PBW Law, Thomas gained invaluable experience in civil and criminal litigation whilst working under Solicitor Advocate, and sole partner, Professor Peter Watson. Thomas has been involved in the preparation for Summary Trials as well as assisting in the preparation for High Court matters. He currently undertakes his own case load dealing with a range of criminal matters from road traffic offences to assault.

Since joining PBW Law and completing his traineeship, Thomas has become a valued member of the team which provides advice and representation to a number of private individuals in wide ranging matters from banking issues to property disputes as well as to members of the Scottish Police Federation. Thomas has experience in instructing Counsel in a number of complex cases in both civil and criminal matters. Thomas has had experience in working with Counsel and assisting the team at PBW law in preparing and conducting Fatal Accident Inquiries and Public Inquiries.


Thomas is experienced in dealing with personal injury matters and has worked on behalf of both the Pursuer and the Defender. He continues to undertake work in the civil court seeking damages in a wide variety of matters. He has had the benefit of working with private individuals and smaller companies.


Having been involved with the firm as a litigation assistant, a trainee, and a qualified solicitor, Thomas has built up his experience in a variety of different fields. Thomas is dedicated to achieving the best possible result for his clients and often achieves this through his thorough research and detailed planning.
