Solicitor
Lewis Muir is a Solicitor at PBW Law in Glasgow. He joined the firm as a trainee in July 2024, qualified on completion of his traineeship, and now runs his own caseload across civil and criminal litigation.
Lewis appeared regularly in court throughout his traineeship and continues to do so in both civil and criminal matters. In criminal cases he has appeared at procedural hearings at every stage of proceedings. He attends clients at police interviews and has instructed and appeared with Senior Counsel in solemn and High Court proceedings.
Lewis acts for serving police officers and members of the Scottish Police Federation as part of the firm’s specialist service to them. He carries his own caseload of criminal matters and has assisted colleagues acting for officers in professional misconduct proceedings and appeals to the Police Appeals Tribunal, appearing as instructing solicitor alongside Senior Counsel at misconduct hearings. He has also worked on police pension forfeiture matters, Fatal Accident Inquiries and Public Inquiries.
His civil practice is wide-ranging. Lewis acts for clients in professional negligence claims, commercial and construction disputes, and actions for breach of contract. He acts for one of Scotland’s largest bus companies in defender-side personal injury litigation and uninsured loss recovery, from Simple Procedure to the Court of Session, work that frequently turns on contested questions of liability, indemnity and insurance coverage. He also manages his own caseload of pursuer personal injury claims.
Lewis is experienced in defamation matters on behalf of professionals and businesses, including securing the removal of defamatory material from online platforms, and has prepared applications to Redress Scotland on behalf of clients.
Lewis graduated with an honours degree in Politics from the University of Stirling before completing the accelerated LLB at Edinburgh Napier University and the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.
He is recognised for his organisation and thorough preparation, and clients regularly comment on the clarity of his advice and on being kept informed at every stage of their case.
