Lyndsay Howat, Solicitor at PBW Law Glasgow - civil litigation, public inquiries and FAIs

Solicitor

Lyndsay Howat is a Solicitor at PBW Law in Glasgow. She joined the firm in September 2025 and quickly took on significant responsibility within the team, building a broad practice across civil litigation, Public Inquiries, Fatal Accident Inquiries and criminal work.

Before joining PBW Law, Lyndsay gained experience across a range of legal disciplines, including private client work and residential conveyancing. That varied background gave her a strong grounding in legal practice and the ability to adapt to different areas of law, manage competing priorities and understand the differing needs of clients. It continues to shape the practical approach she brings to her work.

Lyndsay now oversees a major client’s uninsured loss recovery work and defended civil actions, managing a substantial and varied caseload. Her attention to detail and strong organisational skills are central to running this portfolio: she keeps close oversight of individual matters while ensuring the wider caseload progresses efficiently and the client receives a consistently responsive, reliable service.

Her civil litigation work spans every stage of the process, from the initial assessment and progression of claims through to defended proceedings. She has also gained experience in defamation and reputation-related matters. Managing a high-volume portfolio has sharpened her ability to identify priorities, progress matters efficiently and keep a clear strategic overview while remaining attentive to the detail of each case.

Alongside her civil practice, Lyndsay is actively involved in the firm’s criminal litigation work, working closely with the Partners on the preparation and progression of cases. She has worked alongside experienced advocates and King’s Counsel on complex and sensitive matters, gaining valuable exposure to court practice and procedure in demanding, fast-moving cases.

Lyndsay has been involved in major Public Inquiries, including the Scottish Covid-19 Inquiry, where her work involves the careful review and management of substantial volumes of material. She also assists on Fatal Accident Inquiries, including the Park Inn FAI, where her thoroughness and sensitivity are particularly valued. This work has further developed her ability to analyse detailed material, identify the relevant issues and work effectively as part of a wider legal team.

Lyndsay graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with an LLB before completing her Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at Robert Gordon University.

She is recognised for her diligent and thorough approach to case preparation and for the clear, supportive way she guides clients through the legal process. Committed and pragmatic, Lyndsay welcomes new challenges and continues to broaden her experience across each area of her practice.
